Islamabad: (RightNow) The Federal Constitutional Court has ordered the transfer of cases related to prisoners’ rights, including those of PTI founder Imran Khan, from the Supreme Court to the Constitutional Court. The court has directed the transfer of case records to the Constitutional Court.

According to the written order, the court has also instructed the transfer of petitions by Salman Akram Raja and Mishal Yousafzai to the Constitutional Court. Records of petitions related to prisoners’ meetings have been requested from the Supreme Court.

The court has raised four key questions regarding the fundamental rights of prisoners, including the provision of rights and state responsibilities. The Attorney General informed the court that the Constitutional Court can request relevant records from the Supreme Court.

These cases are based on the fundamental rights of prisoners and questions of constitutional interpretation, which will be reviewed in a constitutional context. The court has also requested records of pending cases in other high courts.

It is noteworthy that on August 18, 2026, the Supreme Court ordered the transfer of Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment, but he was moved to PIMS. The Islamabad High Court had dismissed the prisoners’ petitions.
