Kohat: (RightNow) A blast near Old Police Lines in Kohat results in 16 deaths and 50 injuries. Among the deceased are 5 police officers. Clashes between security forces and terrorists continue in the area.

According to police officials, the security situation is tense with more explosions heard. An emergency is declared at the District Headquarters Hospital, and medical aid is being provided to the injured.

Police sources report that the area is cordoned off, and an operation against terrorists is underway. One terrorist is killed, and another is captured alive during the exchange of fire.

The IG of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken notice of the incident and requested a report. He stated that a suicide bomber detonated near the Special Branch.

It is noteworthy that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has strongly condemned the incident and announced an intensified crackdown against terrorists.
