Lahore: (RightNow) The Lahore High Court has suspended the PMDC’s notification to increase medical college fees. The court made this decision on a petition filed by Central Park Medical College.

Advocate Ramzan Dhadi represented the petitioner college. The lawyer stated that the college had charged students 2.1 million rupees in fees. PMDC had issued a notification for a 5% annual fee increase.

PMDC also issued a notification for the collection of the Consumer Price Index. According to the lawyer, PMDC does not have the authority to increase fees.

This issue is significant as the fee hike increases the financial burden on students. The court’s decision will provide relief to students.

It is noteworthy that Parliament can amend PMDC laws to authorize fee increases. The court has nullified PMDC’s notification.
