Islamabad: (RightNow) The Supreme Court has granted bail to Emaan Mazari and Hadi Ali against surety bonds of 2 lakh rupees, suspending the trial court’s decision. The court stated that the bail is valid until the final decision of the Islamabad High Court case.

A bench comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim heard the case. They remarked that both are lawyers, and thus their dignity is being respected. Additional Attorney General Rana Asad opposed the bail.

During the hearing, Rana Asad mentioned that the High Court has not yet given a decision and that 7 opportunities were provided in the trial court. He stated that the forum for suspension of the sentence is the High Court.

Justice Naeem Akhtar noted that the High Court is preventing the Supreme Court from functioning. He inquired about the actions taken after the Supreme Court’s initial order.

It is noteworthy that on May 12, the Supreme Court issued the first order. Lawyer Faisal Siddiqui mentioned that the case was postponed multiple times during the hearing, referring to the rejected application by the High Court’s registrar office.
