Lahore: (RightNow) The Lahore High Court has halted Punjab medical colleges from expelling Afghan students. Justice Khalid Ishaq heard petitions against the expulsion of Afghan students from colleges.

Over 30 Afghan students were at risk of expulsion. The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) lawyer informed the court that the students lacked valid visas.

Justice Khalid Ishaq questioned why the students were given education visas and why their four years were being wasted. The court criticized the PMDC notification and emphasized the need to hear the students.

The court ordered that no medical college should expel the students or cancel their exams. The case hearing is adjourned until September 18.

It is noteworthy that PMDC had instructed the return of Afghan students and imposed a ban on educational admissions on September 1, 2026.
