Islamabad: (RightNow) Jamaat-e-Islami’s Deputy Amir Liaqat Baloch has rejected the Rs 100 per liter petrol relief package. He stated that this relief package cannot substitute for the removal of the petroleum levy.

Liaqat Baloch spoke to the media in Islamabad after the third round of negotiations with the government. He revealed that technical discussions between Jamaat-e-Islami and the government focused on IPPs and the petroleum levy.

He announced that Jamaat-e-Islami has dismissed the Prime Minister’s petrol relief package. According to Liaqat Baloch, removing the levy could provide a relief of Rs 103 per liter on petrol.

Furthermore, Liaqat Baloch labeled the Prime Minister’s relief initiative as deceptive and informed the government that Jamaat-e-Islami’s march will proceed towards Islamabad.

It is noteworthy that Jamaat-e-Islami is continuing its protests against inflation and the petroleum levy. A long march towards Islamabad is also scheduled for September 20.
