Islamabad: (RightNow). NEPRA has increased electricity rates for consumers nationwide. The increase is due to monthly and quarterly adjustments, with a notification issued.

Under the monthly adjustment, electricity rates have risen by Rs 2.06 per unit. This increase will apply to September bills, imposing an additional burden of Rs 33 billion on consumers.

For the quarterly adjustment, electricity rates will rise by 52 paisa per unit. This will be effective from September to November 2026, based on the April to June 2026 decision, affecting K-Electric consumers as well.

According to NEPRA, the quarterly adjustment will impose a burden of Rs 12.67 billion on consumers. This increase will further exacerbate consumer difficulties.

It is noteworthy that the government has previously increased electricity prices, causing issues for the public.
