Inflation Rises by 0.65% Due to Petrol and Commodity Price Hike

Islamabad: (RightNow) The inflation rate in the country has increased due to the rise in petrol and various commodity prices. The Federal Bureau of Statistics has released a weekly report indicating an annual inflation rate of 8.35%. According to the Bureau, last week saw a 26.30% increase in onion prices, 2.55% in tomatoes, and 0.96% in potatoes. Petrol prices rose by 0.90%, and diesel by 0.09%, affecting other items like flour, chicken, and lentils.

The report states that prices of 7 items decreased, while 27 remained stable this week. Banana prices fell by 2.54%, and mung lentils by 0.69%. It is noted that sugar, eggs, chickpeas, and jaggery prices also saw a decline.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely to manage the impact on the economy. The government is considering measures to stabilize prices and control inflation.

The increase in inflation affects the purchasing power of citizens, making essential goods less affordable. This situation is crucial as it impacts the overall economic stability and consumer confidence.
