Punjab initiates a grand operation to monitor environmental violations, imposing fines on offenders.
Lahore: (RightNow) Punjab has decided to launch a grand operation to intensify monitoring of environmental violations. This decision was made in a meeting chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb.
The meeting revealed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the ‘Clean Lahore, Healthy Punjab’ program is being strictly implemented. Actions are being taken against violations of environmental regulations.
Heavy fines will be imposed on those burning waste and plastic. Notices have been issued to 18 units for environmental violations, and 4 units have been sealed.
Six sites have been sealed for construction violations, and 36 locations have been closed in action against polythene. Ten smoke-emitting vehicles have been confiscated, while 24 challans have been issued, and 24 vehicles have been sealed.
It is noteworthy that with the harvest season approaching, the scope of the operation has been expanded across the province to intensify monitoring of environmental violations.
