Islamabad: (RightNow) The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has enforced new performance regulations on electricity distribution companies. These regulations aim to enhance the performance standards of these companies.

Significant regulatory changes are expected in Pakistan’s electricity distribution sector. NEPRA has decided to replace the two-decade-old framework with a comprehensive system.

Under the new system, companies will be accountable for electricity supply, customer service, and modern technology. They must also focus on investment and protection.

The new NEPRA Performance Standards (Distribution) Regulations, 2026, have replaced the old Performance Standards (Distribution) Rules, 2005. These regulations have transformed the basic framework.

It is noteworthy that NEPRA’s implementation of these regulations aims to improve the performance of electricity distribution companies to provide better services to consumers.
