Kathmandu: (RightNow) A devastating flood has struck the Nepal-China border following a glacier collapse. Millions are at risk as initial evidence shows a surge of water, ice, and debris.

A tremor equivalent to an earthquake was felt. According to the US Geological Survey, it was the impact of the glacier collapse, equivalent to a 5.2 magnitude earthquake.

The flood caused severe damage to property. Over 600 fatalities occurred in Nepal, while 7 people died in China. Approximately 3 thousand individuals are missing.

It is important to note that Nepal is located in the rapidly warming Himalayan region. Thousands of glaciers here are shrinking, increasing risks.
