Islamabad: (RightNow) The Senate Standing Committee on Interior revealed that FBR officials use non-custom paid vehicles. The meeting, chaired by Senator Saleem Saifullah, raised questions about the use of seized goods.

FIA officials submitted an inquiry report on cigarette theft to the committee. The committee chairman requested a discussion on the sub-committee’s report in the next meeting. It was reported that seized vehicles are used due to the lack of new vehicle purchases.

The committee chairman questioned why non-custom paid vehicles are used when 1,000 new vehicles have been purchased. FBR officials explained that seized vehicles are government property and some cannot be auctioned.

Senator Abid Sher Ali suggested that non-custom paid vehicles should be auctioned. The committee chairman stated that using seized goods will not be allowed and sarcastically questioned if seized gold would also be used.

It is noteworthy that FBR officials use seized vehicles due to a shortage of new vehicles. The committee emphasized the need for further investigation into this matter.
