Chinese researchers use machine learning to aid early heart failure diagnosis.
Beijing: (RightNow) Chinese researchers have developed a machine learning model that diagnoses heart failure from weak heart pumping.
According to the research, experts from Guangxi Medical University created this model using laboratory test indicators. The model’s performance was tested using data from 1,480 patients.
Authorities reported that the Random Forest and XGBoost models showed the best performance with an AUC of 0.789. The logistic regression model also delivered effective results.
This research is considered significant for the early diagnosis of heart failure. By increasing the models’ sensitivity, accurate patient identification has become possible.
It is important to note that these results are not a substitute for echocardiography but can be used as an auxiliary tool for early diagnosis.
