Lahore: (RightNow) The Home Department has imposed a 30-day ban on outdoor drone flights across Punjab under Section 144. This measure aims to address security concerns.
The Punjab government has implemented this ban due to security threats. Limited use of small drones is allowed for event coverage inside halls and marquees. Organizers are responsible for the safe use of drones at indoor events.
Intelligence and law enforcement agencies are exempt from this ban. The Home Department has formed a district-level Safe Drone Usage Committee to grant written permission for safe drone use.
Drones for agricultural, irrigation, and research purposes can be used with permission from the district Safe Drone Usage Committee. This committee will provide written authorization for drone use.
It is important to note that the Punjab Home Secretary imposed this ban under Section 144(6) of the Criminal Procedure Code 1898. Authorities and police have been instructed to ensure full compliance with this ban.
