500 schools in France closed due to student protests over security concerns, says Education Minister.
Paris: (RightNow). In France, 500 schools have been closed due to student protests. Education Minister Edouard Geffray stated that the teaching process is affected due to security concerns.
He mentioned that the number of affected schools might remain the same until Friday. Efforts will be made to gradually resume educational activities.
The protest has spread from the capital to other cities. Students protested against the shortage of teachers and the dilapidated condition of buildings.
It is noteworthy that, according to the Minister of Justice, 735 out of 3,700 schools were affected by violent protests. The government has announced further measures.
The French Prime Minister stated that steps are being taken to resolve educational issues. Emphasis has been placed on improving school facilities and increasing transparency in university admissions.
