Islamabad: (RightNow) Security has been tightened in Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s protest for Imran Khan’s release. Major roads are blocked with containers and trenches.

Police, Rangers, and Frontier Corps personnel are deployed in Islamabad. The Metro Bus Service is suspended. Routes to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and Governor House are also closed, causing inconvenience to the public.

The government plans to place barriers on key roads to stop protest convoys. Containers are being weighted with sandbags.

The Islamabad High Court has declared the sit-ins illegal. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated the government will comply with court orders and not obstruct public movement.

It is noteworthy that PTI Chairman Gauhar Khan has called the protest peaceful. He condemned the arrests of workers and emphasized the need to end political tensions in the country.
