Islamabad: (RightNow) An earthquake shook Islamabad and Rawalpindi, causing panic among residents. The earthquake registered a magnitude of 4.9.

According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake had a depth of 196 kilometers. It originated in Afghanistan’s Hindukush region.

Authorities reported the epicenter was located at 36.53 degrees north and 70.88 degrees east longitude.

No immediate reports of casualties or damage have been received. Residents are advised to stay in safe areas.

It is noteworthy that the Hindukush region frequently experiences earthquakes, affecting northern areas of Pakistan.
