Islamabad: (RightNow) The Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production’s sub-committee has directed Pakistan Steel Mills to enhance security and submit the latest audit report within a week. The committee recommended installing modern cameras for effective surveillance.

The meeting, chaired by Senator Syed Masroor Ahsan, included various senators and officials from the Ministry of Industries and Production. The session reviewed security concerns and theft incidents at Pakistan Steel Mills.

The committee expressed concern over the theft of 36 tons of materials and questioned the lack of recovery despite police charges. The committee convener instructed strict action against those involved.

It is noteworthy that Pakistan Steel Mills spans approximately 1,000 acres and faces security challenges due to a shortage of security personnel. The Ministry of Defense has demanded the return of DSF personnel.

The sub-committee also expressed concern over land encroachments and instructed the Deputy Commissioner Malir to attend the next meeting. Protecting the assets of Pakistan Steel Mills, which are national assets, is essential.
