Islamabad: (RightNow) Cigarettes worth Rs 25 crore have disappeared from an FBR (Federal Board of Revenue) warehouse. The FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) has filed a case regarding this matter.

The FIA has named 8 individuals, including 5 FBR officials and 3 private company owners. Raids are being conducted to arrest them.

The case was registered by FIA Assistant Director Muhammad Safeer Ahmed. The accused include Inspector Kamran, Inspector Naveed, and others.

In February 2024, 1,262 cartons of cigarettes were seized in Swabi. Out of these, 908 cartons were found missing from Mardan.

It is noteworthy that FBR inspectors are accused of allegedly causing damage to the state treasury. Logbooks were not maintained in the warehouses.
