Lahore: (RightNow) A proposal has emerged to grant the Punjab government authority over appointments to administrative positions in public sector universities. This suggestion is part of the Public Sector Universities (Second Amendment) Act 2026.

Under the proposed law, the government will appoint registrars, treasurers, and exam controllers. Recommendations from a search committee will be considered for candidate selection.

Previously, the university syndicate was responsible for these appointments. Now, the proposal includes forming a search committee as part of the process.
