Karachi: (RightNow) A Gender Equality Report reveals that over 4 million girls in Sindh are out of school. This report was presented to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, emphasizing equal opportunities for women and girls.

According to the report, the literacy rate for men in Sindh is 68%, while for women, it is 47%. In rural Sindh, the rate is only 27.52%. A spokesperson stated that millions of girls are deprived of education, necessitating immediate action.

The Chief Minister stated that gender equality is a crucial part of the Sindh government’s development agenda under the Pakistan People’s Party. The Gender Parity Report will guide policy-making and resource allocation.

The report indicates that maternal mortality rates in Sindh have decreased from 314 to 224. The registration of female voters has surpassed 12 million.

It is noteworthy that despite improvements in women’s economic participation in Sindh, obstacles remain. The Chief Minister has instructed departments to formulate policies based on the Gender Parity Report.
