Islamabad: (RightNow) The President of the All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association, Owais Chaudhry Advocate, reports that police in Islamabad have seized over 1,000 goods transport vehicles. He clarified that these vehicles were not rented.

Owais Chaudhry stated that containerized cargo, flatbed, open body, ten-wheeler, and Mazda vehicles were seized. Most vehicles are loaded and parked at various intersections. The police’s claim of paying Rs 20,000 daily is incorrect.

Owais Chaudhry further mentioned that no transporter has received any compensation so far. He urged the government to release the vehicles immediately and provide compensation.

This issue is significant as using commercial vehicles to halt protests and sit-ins is unjust. The government should provide relief to the transporters.

It is noteworthy that in 2022, vehicles were also seized without compensation to transporters. Once again, vehicles have been seized, and compensation is being demanded.
