Islamabad district administration bans all sheesha cafes, including those with NOCs, citing health risks.
Islamabad: (RightNow) The Islamabad district administration has imposed a complete ban on operating sheesha cafes until further notice. This ban applies even to cafes holding an NOC (No Objection Certificate).
The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has instructed all assistant commissioners to ensure compliance with the ban. The administration has warned that any violation will result in the sealing of the cafe and legal action against the owner.
According to the district administration, the ban covers both outdoor and indoor sheesha cafes. Health experts have stated that sheesha is not a safe alternative to cigarettes and increases the risk of infections.
Health experts have noted a rising trend of vaping among youth, which is perceived as less harmful but contains nicotine and other addictive substances. Awareness campaigns are deemed necessary.
It is important to note that the district administration has stated that similar actions will continue in other areas of Islamabad in the coming days, with strict measures against law violators.
