The World Health Organization warns that mercury can harm kidneys, the brain, and the nervous system. In 2013, the Minamata Convention banned mercury in 150 countries. However, these products are available in the US, France, India, and other nations.

Online platforms claim they are taking steps to remove such products. Amazon assures seller verification and safety measures. TikTok and Temu also claim to remove violating products.

This issue is significant as the sale of these products poses a public health risk. Their low cost and quick effects on the skin maintain their demand.
