The US meets with Houthis in Amman, avoiding military support for Saudi Arabia.
Amman: (RightNow) The US has opted not to provide military support to Saudi Arabia to counter the Houthis’ advance. A direct meeting between US officials and Houthi leaders took place in Amman.
During the meeting, the Houthis assured that the ceasefire agreed upon in 2025 remains intact. They have no intention of targeting US naval ships in the Red Sea.
US Vice President JD Vance confirmed that the US is in direct contact with the Houthis. The US President has expressed concern over the Houthis’ advance.
It is important to note that the US is already engaged in an expensive conflict with Iran and has designated the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization.
Recently, the Houthis captured large areas in western Yemen, increasing pressure on Saudi Arabia to either negotiate with them or form alliances with regional countries.
