Riyadh: (RightNow) Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey are set to hold a strategic political and defense committee meeting under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement today. High-ranking diplomatic and defense officials from the three countries will participate.

The Pakistani Foreign Office spokesperson stated that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, and Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir will represent Pakistan. The meeting will also focus on joint efforts for regional peace and stability.

According to the Foreign Office, the three countries had previously agreed to work together for sustainable peace in the region and support de-escalation. This meeting will discuss measures to enhance defense cooperation.

It is noteworthy that the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement was signed on August 7, 2026, between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. Under the agreement, an attack on one member is considered an attack on all, and there was an agreement to increase defense cooperation.

In recent days, the security situation in the region and actions by Houthis in Yemen have led to increased consultations among the agreement’s member countries. Pakistan has expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
