The US recalls B-1 bombers from UK base due to attack threat after 5 arrests.
Washington: (RightNow) The United States has recalled B-1 bombers from the British Fairford Airbase. This action was taken due to a potential threat of an attack on the British military base.
A US Department of Defense official stated that 5 individuals were arrested on suspicion of planning an attack on the airbase. Following these arrests, the decision to recall the bombers was made.
The official mentioned that due to operational security, timely confirmation of asset movements was not possible. All bomber aircraft have now returned to the US.
The official further added that US bomber aircraft have the capability to target locations worldwide. Their operations include flying from and returning to US soil.
It is noteworthy that a dozen B-1 bombers were stationed at Fairford Airbase, which were used in US attacks on Iran.
