Mohsin Naqvi meets Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor as PTI long march heightens political tension.
Peshawar: (RightNow) Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made an unexpected visit to the Governor House in Peshawar, where he met with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi. The meeting occurred amid escalating political tensions between the government and PTI.
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi stated that the failure of negotiations between the government and PTI is the responsibility of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi. He revealed that a draft for negotiations was prepared, but the Chief Minister requested changes, leading to a deadlock.
According to Mohsin Naqvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari also reviewed the draft. After Suhail Afridi’s objections, the draft was amended four times, yet an agreement could not be reached.
It is noteworthy that PTI’s long march is being conducted to demand the release of Imran Khan. The government has announced its intention to prevent protesters from entering the capital, while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister is accused of using state resources for political purposes.
Previously, Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the need for counter-terrorism measures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and expected the provincial government to condemn militant groups.
