Rawalpindi: (RightNow) On the 17th day of the September War, the Indian Air Force attacked a Pakistani passenger train. This attack resulted in 20 passengers being killed and 48 injured. The Pakistan Army destroyed 4 Indian tanks in the Khem Karan sector.

In the Sialkot sector, the Pakistan Army inflicted heavy losses on the enemy through dual attacks. The army destroyed 442 Indian tanks and captured 17. India lost 51 tanks and 14 artillery pieces.

Pakistani Air Force jets attacked Indian Air Force bases in the Samba Jammu sector, crippling their operations. Approximately 500 square miles of Indian territory were captured across various sectors.

President Ayub emphasized the need for effective measures at the United Nations for a final resolution of the Kashmir issue. The Pakistan Army captured 20 officers, 19 JCOs, and 530 Indian soldiers as prisoners of war.

It is noteworthy that Pakistan’s successes in the 1965 war proved to be a significant setback for the Indian military. This war was triggered by the Kashmir dispute.
