Islamabad: (RightNow) An inquiry committee, formed on the Prime Minister’s directive, has released a report on the fire at PIMS nursery. The report indicates that the fire was likely caused by an electrical fault, but allegations against the frontline staff for abandoning the infants were proven false.

The report states that the fire resulted in the deaths of 14 newborns, while one infant survived. The committee conducted a detailed examination of the causes and destructive factors of the incident.

The report was compiled using forensic evidence, CCTV records, and other documents. It reveals that the fire started at 6:38 AM, according to CCTV footage.

During the fire, the frontline staff acted promptly to save the infants. Nurses bravely attempted to rescue the children, with Nurse Razia saving one newborn.

It is important to note that the PIMS nursery had a 10-bed unit where 15 vulnerable newborns were being treated, who fell victim to the devastating effects of the fire.
