Islamabad: (RightNow) Due to monsoon rains, Tarbela Dam has reached its maximum capacity. Water levels in Mangla Dam have reached 68%. Lower-level flooding is occurring at Tarbela, Kalabagh, and Chashma on the Indus River.

In the next 24 to 48 hours, there is a possibility of flooding in the Ravi and Chenab rivers. The Meteorological Department has warned of moderate flooding in areas adjacent to the Ravi and Chenab rivers from August 17 to 19.

Rain with strong winds is expected in Islamabad, Kashmir, and various areas of Punjab. Rain is also forecasted for Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, and Sheikhupura.

Alerts have been issued for rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts and Balochistan. Upper areas of the Indus River, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mianwali, and the district of Musa Khel in Balochistan may also be affected.

It is noteworthy that rain is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Chiniot, Faisalabad, and other districts of Punjab. Authorities in the districts of Barkhan and Sherani in Balochistan have been advised to remain alert.
