Chiniot: (RightNow) A high flood alert is issued for Chenab River at Khanki and Qadirabad. Local authorities have instructed evacuations from low-lying settlements near the river belt.

According to the Irrigation Department spokesperson, Khanki Barrage recorded an inflow of 261,463 cusecs and an outflow of 256,063 cusecs, while Qadirabad Barrage recorded an inflow of 267,159 cusecs.

The spokesperson stated that evacuation orders have been issued for low-lying areas in Chiniot. Flood relief camps have been established in response to the flood situation.

It is important to note that India has opened the gates of Salal Dam, leading to a continuous rise in water levels in the Chenab River.

It should be remembered that there is a risk of water entering low-lying areas of Sialkot, Narowal, and Gujranwala, while alerts have also been issued for villages in Multan and Muzaffargarh.
