Hafiz Naeem warns PM Shehbaz Sharif of a long march if promises remain unmet, demanding the abolition of the levy for real fuel relief.
Karachi: (RightNow) Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan leader Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman warns that the fuel relief package is insufficient, and the real solution lies in abolishing the levy. He cautions that if Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif fails to fulfill his promise, a long march will commence from Multan.
At a press conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq in Karachi, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman stated that the Prime Minister assured to address the issue upon returning from the US, leading to the postponement of the long march. Now, the Prime Minister must fulfill his promise, or the long march will be resumed.
He mentioned that the government’s petroleum relief package is ineffective, benefiting only 20 to 25 percent of people, while Pakistan has 25 million motorcycles and over 4 million vehicles.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader emphasized that the government was not inclined to provide relief, and it was only after their protest that the government took action. Abolishing the levy is the real relief, and they have outlined points on how this can be achieved.
It is noteworthy that Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has clarified that Jamaat-e-Islami will not back down from its demands and will announce the future course of action after October 7, 2026. He criticized the government’s opposition to negotiations and urged the opposition to act responsibly.
