ICC introduces new cricket rules effective October 2026 to enhance game transparency and prevent time wastage.
Dubai: (RightNow) The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced significant changes to cricket rules. These changes aim to prevent time wastage and clarify regulations.
The new rules will apply to international series starting on or after October 1, 2026. Updates from the Marylebone Cricket Club are also included in men’s and women’s cricket formats.
ICC Men’s Cricket Committee Chairman Sourav Ganguly stated that improvements have been made in ball handling, fielding, and game pace. The goal is to maintain transparency and uniformity in the sport.
These changes align cricket rules with modern needs, aiming to clarify regulations in various situations and reduce time wastage in the game.
It is noteworthy that these changes include stricter measures against time-wasting by batters, standards for ball size and weight, and clarification of overthrow rules.
