Jamaat-e-Islami announces a nationwide strike, intensifying the movement against government policies and criticizing the alliance with oil companies.
Karachi: (RightNow) Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman announces a nationwide strike tomorrow. He claims the alliance between oil companies and the government burdens the public.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman states the government fails to provide tax relief to the poor but has waived taxes for the sugar mafia. All opposition parties are part of Jamaat-e-Islami’s movement.
He further mentions the movement is spreading to neighborhoods. Capacity payments and fixed charges on electricity add extra burden on the public. Rs 1700 billion has been paid to some IPPs.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman emphasizes new provinces are created worldwide for administrative needs. Provinces should be formed according to public opinion and the constitution.
It is noteworthy that MQM has been involved in political maneuvering over the formation of provinces for 40 years.
