Karachi: (RightNow) The Sindh Home Department has released the judicial commission report on the Gul Plaza tragedy. The report highlights negligence by the building’s administration and violations of fire safety regulations.

According to the report, civil defense reports from 2024 and 2025 revealed a lack of fire safety equipment, presence of flammable materials, and flaws in exit routes. The administration failed to address these issues.

The report states that delays in notifying the fire brigade and power outages led to darkness, further reducing rescue chances.

The report indicates that ineffective planning, inactive safety systems, and fragmented institutional responsibilities resulted in significant casualties.

It is noteworthy that on January 17, a fire broke out at Gul Plaza on Karachi’s M.A. Jinnah Road, resulting in over 70 deaths and the complete destruction of the plaza.
