Islamabad: (RightNow) Following the PIMS incident, 48 hospitals in Islamabad have been fined Rs 1 crore for failing fire safety measures. The CDA conducted surprise inspections at both public and private hospitals to assess fire and life safety arrangements.

Initial inspections revealed inadequate fire safety measures, resulting in fines ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh. Challans were issued to various hospitals on August 30 and 31.

According to the CDA, major hospitals like PIMS, Polyclinic, and Capital Hospital had already received multiple notices. Deficiencies were found in fire detection and emergency exits.

This action highlights the critical importance of fire safety measures. Hospital administrations have been given stricter guidelines.

It is noteworthy that following the PIMS incident, the CDA has adopted a zero-tolerance policy. Further actions are indicated for additional violations.
