CDA fines hospitals Rs 5 lakh for fire safety violations, emphasizing increased importance post-PIMS fire incident.
Islamabad: (RightNow) The CDA Fire Service has fined CDA Hospital and Polyclinic administration Rs 5 lakh for violating fire safety regulations. Both hospitals were found with fire and life safety deficiencies.
CDA reported that despite multiple notices, flaws in fire detection and firefighting systems were not rectified. Inspections also revealed issues with emergency lighting and exit signage.
The CDA Fire Service has instructed hospital administrations to take immediate action and submit a corrective report. A re-inspection of Polyclinic will also occur.
The importance of fire safety measures has increased, and CDA has warned of further legal action.
It is noteworthy that the recent fire incident at PIMS has heightened the importance of fire safety in hospitals.
