Lahore: (RightNow) Following a fire at Islamabad’s PIMS Hospital, the Punjab government decides to install fire hydrants in major public hospitals. Orders have been issued to enhance security and fire prevention measures across the province.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Housing Department stated that under the Chief Minister’s directive, fire safety measures in hospitals are being reviewed. A list of 57 major public hospitals has been prepared for the first phase. Modern fire hydrants will be installed in these hospitals.

All WASA agencies have been tasked with installing fire hydrants around hospitals. The Housing Department, Rescue 1122, and other agencies will collaborate to complete this process. The performance of existing hydrants near hospitals will also be inspected.

The spokesperson mentioned that after the tragic fire incident at PIMS Hospital, the safety of Punjab’s hospitals has become a top priority. This initiative aims to ensure a prompt and effective response in any emergency situation.

It is noteworthy that this decision was made following the fire in the nursery at PIMS Hospital, which resulted in the deaths of innocent children. The Punjab government is committed to ensuring the safety of public hospitals.
