Government Increases Petrol and Diesel Prices Amid Global Oil Price Drop

The government has raised petrol and diesel prices despite a drop in global oil prices, adding more burden on the public.

Islamabad: (RightNow) The government has announced an increase in petroleum product prices. The Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division stated that prices have been raised under OGRA’s revised petroleum pricing mechanism.

According to the announcement, the price of high-speed diesel has increased by 1 rupee 11 paisa per liter. The ex-depot price of diesel has risen from 370 rupees 69 paisa to 371 rupees 80 paisa per liter.

Petrol prices have also increased by 1 rupee 12 paisa per liter. After the increase, the new ex-depot price of petrol is set at 343 rupees 10 paisa per liter, up from 341 rupees 98 paisa per liter.

The government clarified in the notification that the new prices are set for August 26 and 27, 2026. This increase is due to fluctuations in global crude oil prices.

It is noteworthy that the price of US crude oil in the global market has decreased by 3.15%. Similarly, the price of British Brent crude oil has also recorded a 3.62% decrease.
