President Putin asserts Russia’s significant role in the global coal market, highlighting its vast reserves and steady production.
Moscow: (RightNow) Russian President Vladimir Putin states that Russia holds the world’s second-largest coal reserves. He emphasizes that despite current industry challenges, Russia maintains its crucial position in the global market.
In a video message on Miners’ Day, President Putin highlighted coal, coke, iron ore, and other mineral resources as fundamental strengths of the Russian economy. He noted that coal production remains steady at 440 million metric tons.
Putin revealed that Russia ranks second in coal reserves, third in exports, and sixth in production globally. He assured that domestic needs for coking and thermal coal are fully met.
President Putin announced that the government will continue to support the coal industry’s development. This includes improving transportation, logistics, workplace safety, and miners’ living standards.
It is noteworthy that Russia is transforming coal mining into a future industry through modern digital technologies and high-performance equipment. Training skilled workforce and enhancing mining prestige are also key priorities.
