Southern Lebanon: (RightNow) An explosion in the Majdal Zone of Southern Lebanon has resulted in the deaths of 2 Israeli majors and injuries to 4 soldiers. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon while Israeli forces targeted Hezbollah infrastructure.

The Israeli military confirmed that the deceased, Major Harel Berenstock and Sergeant Major Tamir Waknin, were members of the 55th Paratroopers Brigade. Both soldiers were participating in operations against Hezbollah.

According to initial investigations by the Israeli military, the personnel entered a Hezbollah stronghold when the explosion occurred. Israeli media claims that Israel has launched retaliatory strikes against Hezbollah following the incident.

This latest bout of violence is occurring amidst ongoing negotiations between Lebanon and Israel. In June, both countries agreed on a security pact to reduce border disputes.

It is noteworthy that Israel has announced it will not withdraw its forces from Southern Lebanon to mitigate the Hezbollah threat.
