Ankara: (RightNow) Tensions between Turkey and Israel have escalated following Israeli airstrikes in northern Syria. Both nations have established secret communications to avoid direct confrontation. An Israeli official stated that Israel does not wish to make Turkey an enemy.

Recent Israeli bombings near the Abu al-Duhur base in northern Syria’s Idlib have heightened tensions between the two countries. According to an Israeli security official, secret communication channels with Turkey have been opened.

Sources indicate that messages are being exchanged between Israel and Turkey to prevent clashes. An Israeli official mentioned that further Israeli actions in Syria cannot be ruled out.

It is noteworthy that U.S. Special Envoy Tom Barrack criticized the Israeli airstrikes. He stated that Israel did not inform the U.S. before the attacks, which are seen as an attempt to provoke Turkey.

Abu al-Duhur base is located approximately 80 kilometers east of the Turkish border. It is a strategic site situated between Idlib, Hama, and Aleppo, and is one of the key military bases in northern Syria.
