Islamabad: (RightNow) The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for potential glacial lake outbursts in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir. The regions have been deemed sensitive due to rainfall and rising temperatures.

According to NDMA, there is a risk of sudden flooding in Ghizer, Hunza, Nagar, Shigar, Gilgit, Rondu, Diamer, Astore, Skardu, and Neelum Valley. The authority has advised precautionary measures in these areas.

There is also a threat of landslides and flooding in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, and Mansehra. NDMA has urged residents in these regions to remain cautious.

The National Emergency Operations Center has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Potohar and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other areas are expected to experience intense rainfall.

It is important to note that NDMA has instructed citizens to stay away from rivers, streams, and hazardous locations near glaciers. The public is urged to follow official guidelines.
