Efforts are ongoing to retrieve Dr. Asma’s body from Spantik, with rescue teams facing severe weather.
Islamabad: (RightNow). Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar states all efforts will be made to retrieve Dr. Asma’s body. He expresses hope that the rescue team will soon reach Camp Three.
The rescue team reached near Camp Three but had to return due to severe weather and strong winds. The federal minister informs that helicopter permission has also been granted for the retrieval.
He mentions coordination between the Gilgit-Baltistan government and FCNA is complete. Alternative arrangements are in place to ensure the body’s return.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Asma Mushtaq lost her life due to high-altitude sickness while mountaineering on Spantik. She was from Lahore and served as a doctor in the UK.
The Alpine Club of Pakistan’s General Secretary stated that efforts to retrieve Dr. Asma’s body are ongoing with the help of various teams, under the supervision of her expedition company.
