Islamabad: (RightNow). The Meteorological Department issues an alert for heavy rain and storms in northern Pakistan. The western wind system starts tonight and continues until October 7.

Rain and strong winds are expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan on October 6 and 7, with hailstorms in some areas. Rain is also predicted in parts of Balochistan.

Sindh is expected to remain hot and dry in the coming days. The Meteorological Department advises the public to take precautions and avoid unnecessary travel.

Storms and hail may damage weak infrastructure. Farmers are advised to plan agricultural activities according to weather conditions. A temperature drop of 2 to 4 degrees is expected.

It is noteworthy that the western wind system has previously caused weather changes in the country, leading to rain and hail damage in various areas.
