Islamabad: (RightNow) The government has announced new prices for petrol and diesel. The new price for petrol is set at Rs 391.22 per liter, while diesel is now Rs 421.45 per liter.
The cost of petrol at Karachi port is Rs 258.01 per liter, and diesel costs Rs 298.90 per liter. After adding customs duty and other expenses, the import prices have increased.
The government is collecting Rs 80 as petroleum levy and Rs 5 as climate support levy on petrol. These levies total Rs 85 per liter, contributing to the price hike.
The price increase will further burden the public with inflation. The government states that this decision is due to rising global prices.
It is important to note that changes in global prices are reflected in local prices within 7 business days, leading to continuous price adjustments.
