Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urges banks to support affordable housing loans, with 53,127 applications approved under the ‘Apna Ghar’ program.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasizes the importance of providing affordable housing for low and middle-income groups. He instructs banks and financial institutions to play a role in offering loans to farmers, small businesses, and the housing sector.
In a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, the provision of loans under the ‘Apna Ghar’ (Own House) program was reviewed. It was reported that 1,47,504 applications have been received so far, out of which 53,127 have been approved.
The Prime Minister stated that the agricultural sector is the backbone of the national economy, and it is essential to provide farmers with easy access to financial resources. The meeting was informed that the target for agricultural loans is set at 2 trillion rupees.
The meeting also discussed making the ‘Apna Ghar’ program more effective by involving renowned housing developers. Additionally, a system is being developed to identify plots across the country.
It is noteworthy that this program was launched in Pakistan to provide affordable housing, enabling more individuals to own their homes.
