Islamabad: (RightNow) The recent increase in petrol and high-speed diesel prices has added to the financial burden on citizens. People are paying Rs 130.75 per liter for petrol and Rs 122.47 for high-speed diesel in taxes and margins.
The base price of diesel is Rs 245.82, while its current price is set at Rs 368.29 per liter. The government has increased petrol prices by Rs 3.81 and high-speed diesel by Rs 3.59.
Dealers’ margins have also been increased by Rs 1.34 per liter, effective from midnight. These increases may further impact the financial conditions of citizens.
It is clear that the rise in petrol and diesel prices affects transport and other sectors, ultimately burdening the public.
Historically, increases in petrol prices have led to inflation, exacerbating public hardships.
