Islamabad: (RightNow) The government has increased the prices of petrol and diesel. Petrol prices have risen by Rs 3.34 and diesel by Rs 5.27 per liter.

The Petroleum Division has issued new rates effective from August 19. The new price for petrol is set at Rs 334.54 per liter, and diesel at Rs 395.69 per liter.

Officials state that the price hike is due to rising oil prices in the global market. Public reaction shows concern over the increase.

This rise will add further financial burden on the public and could increase inflation. The government’s policy on price hikes is facing criticism.

It is noteworthy that just yesterday, petrol prices increased by Rs 5.77 and diesel by Rs 6.47 per liter.
